Get started

Quick start

Complete your first import, smart pre-edit, review, and export workflow.

Updated 7/31/2026

1. Create a project

Open Broadcast Cutter and create a project with a recognizable name. Using one project per episode makes future searches and backups much easier.

2. Import your media

Drag an audio or video file into the window, or choose it with the import button. Let the waveform finish processing before you begin editing.

3. Run Smart Pre-editing

Open Smart Pre-editing and choose what to detect, such as long pauses, repeated words, or filler words. Start with the default settings, then adjust them to match the pace of your show.

4. Review the suggestions

Smart results are editing suggestions, not final decisions. Listen around every flagged segment, especially at the start and end of sentences or where speakers hand off to each other.

5. Export the finished edit

Choose an output format and destination after reviewing the timeline. For your first project, export a short sample first to confirm loudness, video, and subtitle settings.
